Mission Report; WAA Escort Ft Pierce /Lake Worth Fl,14 Dec12
Left Racetrac gas station at 0600 with "Knuklehead" and
"Rabbi"; proceeded to Forest Hill Blvd to pick up "Outlaw", arrived at
0615, no one there. Proceeded on to Indiantown Rd to pick up
"NoPockets", arrived at 0635. saw "NoPockets" waiting on entrance, lit
him up with flashers and he Joined the ride.
Stopped to gas up in PSL and went on to Walmart center in
Fort Pierce. Arrived at 0715 and was met by Walmart driver Rick who
introduced us to FHP escort troopers and invited all us inside for
breakfast on Walmart.
Shortly after I received a call from PBSO deputy
Richards advising that there was a fatal accident on the turnpike and it
was shutdown from PGA blvd.south. We discussed an alternate route with
FHP and decided to take I-95 all the way to Southern Blvd and then head
west to 441 and south to the cemetery. PBSO was advised and agreed to
pick up the escort at the I-95/ Southern Blvd interchange.
After an enjoyable breakfast, we saddled up and
began our trek south at 0900 hrs. About 30 riders in all, flag bikes in
front, followed by other bikes, then cages, then an FHP cruiser who led
the 3 trucks followed by a trailing FHP cruiser.
As we passed Indiantown Rd entrance we were joined by "Rebar" leading a number of riders from Nam Knights MC.
We
arrive at Southern Blvd at 1030 hrs and were immediately picked up by a
dozen or more PBSO motors and 2 PBCFD fire trucks, lights blazing.
They escorted us west to Rt.441 shutting down
traffic along the way.we turned south on 441 to the cemetery and entered
the south gate at 1050 hrs.
We had
previously established the quantity of wreaths required at each of 6
locations and advised the drivers where they were to drop off what
quantities.
Melinda, our Location leader from Nam Knights Ladies
assigned volunteers to each of the locations to unload, unbox, set
boxes curbside for pickup and recycling by Walmart.
Amazingly,
by 1330 hrs, all 8000 wreaths were staged in the appropriate locations
awaiting placement on the individual resting places after tomorrow's,
magnificent to be sure, ceremony.
It felt like Santa had come early this year. GOD
bless and thanks to all that contributed to this great performance
today. Till tomorrow.....
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED !!!
